Membership & General Body Meetings

General Body Members

The membership of RSA shall consist of all students attending the UNC Charlotte who currently reside in an on-campus residence. Any student living in an on-campus residence hall is eligible and automatically considered part of the general body. Membership is contingent upon a student’s current contract with Housing and Residence Life. Membership is revoked when a student moves out of the residence hall. General Body Members shall:

  • Have speaking privileges in all RSA General Body meetings, including any sub-groups or committee meetings
  • Have the power to bring forward and advocate for resident concerns or proposed changes within any Residence Hall
  • Be invited to all general body meetings and any event or program hosted or co-hosted by RSA

Representative Council

Each Residence Hall Council or Community Council will have one vote at General Body Meetings. A council may send more than one member to represent the hall or community, but each hall or community will have no more than one vote. The voting body is the representative council. 

Each Residence Hall Council or Community Council may send at least one representative that will have voting rights during general body meetings. The individual(s) must currently live in the hall or community to which their vote is representing. The representative council headcount will be determined by Housing and Residence Life’s Residence Hall Council or Community Council structure for the current academic year. Representative Council members shall: Have speaking privileges in all RSA General Body meetings, including any sub-groups or committee meetings Have the power to bring forward and advocate for resident concerns or proposed changes within any Residence Hall Be invited to all general body meetings and any event or program hosted or co-hosted by RSA Meet with their Residence Hall Council or Community Council Advisor Vote with their residence hall or community in mind and solicit feedback as necessary.
