The membership of RSA shall consist of all students attending the UNC Charlotte who currently reside in an on-campus residence. Any student living in an on-campus residence hall is eligible and automatically considered part of the general body. Membership is contingent upon a student’s current contract with Housing and Residence Life. Membership is revoked when a student moves out of the residence hall. General Body Members shall:

  • Have speaking privileges in all RSA General Body meetings, including any sub-groups or committee meetings
  • Have the power to bring forward and advocate for resident concerns or proposed changes within any Residence Hall
  • Be invited to all general body meetings and any event or program hosted or co-hosted by RSA

Residence Hall Council or Community Council: Each Residence Hall Council or Community Council will have a vote based on the Hall Representatives within that council. Each Hall Representative will have one vote at General Body Meeings. A council may send more than one member to represent the Representative Council but the vote will always remain with the Hall Representative. The voting body is the Representative Council.

Residential Leadership Council: Each Residential Leadership Council will have a Hall Representative for every hall that comprises that RLC. That Hall Representative is required to attend General Body meetings and will retain the vote for their hall. The individual(s) must currently live in the hall to which their vote is representing, unless a proxy vote is approved by the RLC President and RLC Advisor.

Representative Council Headcount: The Representative Council Headcount will be determined by Housing and Residence Life’s Residence Hall Council or Community Council structure for the current academic year.

Representative Council members shall:

  • Have speaking privileges in all RSA General Body meetings, including any sub-groups or committee meetings
  • Have the power to bring forward and advocate for resident concerns or proposed changes within any Residence Hall
  • Be invited to all general body meetings and any event or program hosted or co-hosted by RSA
  • Meet with their Residence Hall Council or Community Council Advisor
  • Vote with their residence hall or community in mind and solicit feedback as necessary.
